Village Is More Global,Language Is More Vital

1. Besides those jobs that mentioned in an article, there are some jobs that might be useful if I speak more than one language. If entertainers know more than one language, there might be more opportunities to do work worldwide, so they can communicate with fans better. Moreover, engineers, writers and reporters are also the useful jobs that if they know the one than one language. Especially, reporters do not have to, but should know more than one language; therefore, they can absorb more information easily than others.

2. I think knowing more than one language will be helpful to get a job because they can have more chance to do work. For example, if someone can speak more than one language, he could take a chance to go to aboard to work and communicate with others. It is like self-development in this Global world. The ability that I can speak more languages other than my mother tongue is valuable thing whenever I express myself; better taking than knowing nothing.

3. Even though the pay is low, if the job is the one that I have been wanted to do, it will be fine to spend time there because I can learn even it is a little thing and absorbing experience can not be compare to amount of money. If it is too small and think that is my job last of my life, I will be consider because of payment. However, if the situation is not that serious, I would feel glad to learn things and meet people, so I can develop myself. After that, it will be never late that you can have better job to get a more payment.

AGE AND YOUTH
by Pablo Casals

1. He has affirmative and progressive behavior toward to his life manner. He still loves his job. For him, aging is not matter because he has so much passion in his life and music. He likes to play a joke and I think it means he is enjoying his life.

2. For him, Casals, retirement means to begin to die. He thinks if we work and love our job, we never old; that means, work can prevent getting old. Besides, feel passion of something I like can help me to live happier.

3. He has especially loved the sea. He likes to live near the sea if it’s possible, so he can walk by the sea every morning before he goes work. He thinks the sea is mysterious and beautiful. The sea never the same because it moves and makes waves, which means the sea also keep moving on and not afraid of changing.

AMERICAN VALUES AND ASSUMPTIONS
-by Gary Althen

PRIVACY

[Summary]

‘Privacy’ is greatly important values of behavior for Americans like the importance of individualism. They think people take a respite or recover their body and energy when they are sitting alone and having own time. Besides, American people are tending to not be able to understand and think weak when people always want to stay with someone else and afraid of being alone. For American people, no matter where they are such as rooms or offices, they always draw boundaries in their mind even though the places are opened, so if somebody pass over that line, it might make person, who draw that line, feel irritated.

[Personal Response]

I think American people are likely to have their own time even when they are sitting at the coffee shop. In Korea, now it is getting okay and easy to find someone who sits alone.
However, even a year ago, it was pretty hard to find someone sit in a public places and eat or do something-except library-. I think this behavior of American people is closely related to Individualism. People either understand and respect whatever a person is having own time, or just nor care about them, which is good because we do not need to care about other’s frown or concern and have my own free time.

Sunday in the Park

Sunday in the Park
1. Author’s Point of view

- What message does the author send us?

: The author is trying to show the point of differences through two people, who has different behavior, background and socio-economy. Morton, Larry’s father, were actually trying to say something why he got anger to the big man, but he couldn’t say or show anything even if he closely lost his temper toward to the big man that him and his child are showing some kind of rude attitude which they don’t know what is wrong.

- What is he telling us trough this incident.

: The author is telling that the people should be educated by parent, school or surrounding to be able to think and perceive well so that they could live more worthy than people who just spend time and doing whatever they want to do. It is truly important to people have ability to realize the world is not just one’s territory: be more mature will be needed.

2. Personal reflection.

- Have you ever encountered situation (like this), which you had to make a decisionto face or walk away.

: I have been experienced like this situation many times from anywhere at campus and also off campus. I think I am going to try to face with that situation clearly but politely because when I confront with any situation that whoever shows unthoughtful manner especially in public, I guess those kind of people just execute because they do not think carefully or may be they just do not know what they are doing. Besides, if that attitude makes me uncomfortable or annoying, which might other people would feel same as I do.

- What happened?

: It was early in the morning before go to classroom. I was going to grab a cup of coffee at the bookstore and stay in a line to pay for it. Actually the line was pretty long because it was very beginning of the quarter. I think I had been waiting for about five to ten minutes. It wasn’t that long time and I saw one girl right in front of me called somebody and said hello. I was talking on the phone shortly, but I could figure out that they just met at the bookstore. Than guess what? The two girls who looked like the girl’s, who was standing in front of me, friends suddenly intruded into the line without saying anything to people behind. I felt little irritation and actually expressed little uncomfortableness secretly and waited them to say “sorry” to me or saying any vindications so I, include others, can understand and let them stay in the line. I heard some people behind me talked about them asked that we are waiting in the line, but unfortunately, they just ignored and talked very loudly. Fianlly, I got angry little bit, I actully gave them a chance to say whatever, but they didn't, so I prodded a girl's shoulder, and said "we're waiting in a line.". Than? theire first reaction was "oh....". Thankfully, they walked to very end of the line. It was not that big issue and I was in a safe line to get to classroom, but that made me sad. Truly.

[Summery] Bottled water versus tap: Which is safer to drink
both have thier risks, but your home's writer is subject to broader scrutiny.
by Elena Coins
October 13, 2008

According to an article "Bottled Water versus tap: Which is safer to drink?", by
Elena Conins mentioned that the watter bottles that we subsists on thesedays are likely incresed enormously for several years. Dr.Sara Jenssen, science fellow with the Natural Resources Defense council in San Francisco, said the bottled water is not safe anymore than tap water. Both water bottle and tap water come from lakes, springs, and aquifers; besides, a small quantity of water are from tap water to upgrade test. It is not suprisingly new to people that the water from the tap might smelly becasue of the big amount of chlorine, but it actually filtered and regulated from EPA's drinking water standards.

Ba a successful L2 learner

[Summary]
Many researchers had studied about the second language learners who is learning a new language, which is different from mother tongue. The researchers have found that learning second language may be taken form school either society. In the twentieth century, learning English was target, but concern for the people who wants to learn English for both young and elder people. There are several way to divide into the learning strategies by inner mental mechanisms, age, and critical age. Some researchers have argued about the psycholinguistic way of learning, which they have questioned that there are any specific age of learning English of are second language that can learn faster than older people and this is left as temporary.
Moreover, as an individual learners, it can be divided by two major factors: cognitive factor, which focuses on Language aptitude and strategies and the other one is affective factors, which focuses on Language attitude, motivation and anxiety. In like manner, the learner as social being may build the learner's identity and relationship which is dynamic changing.

[Personal Response]
I agree what the author says about.I am also second language learner, but not as a young learner. I am strongly agree that young people may assimilate quickly than grown people because I noticed when I heard one of my nephew, who is five year old, speaks in English so fluently. He actually came to the United States in January of 2008: the thing is he never learned English in his five year life before. I was amazed by his excellent transform in just half year!!! Unbelievable.. and he makes me to wonder about my ability of learning language that I could be like him in half year or not. As he gave me sort of motive, which makes my brain sparks, I could think of myself that I want to test my ability as quickest as possible. I guess it is impossible to learn English like when a little girl just starts learning her first language from people and environment. However, if I have anxiety to build my ability and try to consider to make my own strategies in learning English , that could be possible to make it closely. I hope : )
